Bullet Journal Ideas For College Students

College brought more than coursework for me. Alongside reading and papers, I was learning to budget, plan meals, and manage life on my own. A bullet journal offers a place to keep those different notes together.

I used a weekly planner then, but wanted a more flexible system. These page ideas can help you build a college journal around the information you need most.

If you prefer writing on a tablet, you can also look at my Digital Student Planner.

College Career Overview or the "Four Year Plan"

Use your college's planning tools and requirements to draft a course overview. Keep a copy in your journal, noting required classes, electives, and completed credits. Review the plan with the appropriate adviser when you need to check it.

When you receive your syllabuses, add exam dates and major deadlines to a semester overview. A color for each course can help distinguish them. Include office hours, contact details, and textbook return dates if you want them nearby.

Bullet Journal Class Schedule

This bullet journal weekly schedule makes it easy to see when you have free time to study, relax, etc.

A timetable gives you a view of how classes fit through the week. Include the locations as well as times. Blocks, a table, or a plain dated list can all work.

Study Log

Here are my bullet journal page ideas for college students. I'll show you some good school schedule layouts, grade trackers, study log ideas and more!
This study log helps you keep track of what days you studied, and what you studied, so you can avoid neglecting subjects.

A study log can record time by day or by course. You might also track reading progress in a class where work isn't collected regularly. Use the record to plan, rather than treating every hour as a target.

Marking study milestones

If you enjoy marking a milestone, choose a small reward for finishing a study session or assignment. These are some possibilities:

  • Purchase a new item of clothing you've been wanting
  • Order a nice meal (whatever would be nice 'n' special for you)
  • Have a 100% rest day - with the PHONE OFF *gasps!* (okay just let your mom know what you're up to please so she doesn't call campus police)
  • Do something fun with your friends or significant other
  • Get a mani/pedi or haircut at a salon

No spend fun

Keep a list of things you enjoy that don't require extra spending. Here are a few ideas:

  • Take a long bath or shower and catch up on your Zzzzzz's
  • Draw a picture of your current and future self in your bullet journal. Write a wishlist or other fun page in there.
  • Free activities on campus (most colleges have a TON of these, so I recommend digging through your college website and writing down the date and location of all the things you actually want to do. My faves in college were free movies & concerts, football games, and free pizza events!)
  • Take out a book or movie from the library
  • Write an email or letter to your grandparents, siblings, or high school friends if you haven't seen them in a while
  • Learn to cook something tasty on YouTube (look for Cooking With Dog or Food Wishes, the best!)
  • Play board games with friends
  • If all else fails, Netflix and chill!

Spring Break To Do List

For spring break, note any plans or tasks you want to remember. Leave room for rest as well as things you'd like to do.

Summer Brain Dump

A summer ideas page can hold thoughts about classes, work, travel, or volunteering without requiring a decision straight away. When you're ready to plan, review the list and move the ideas you want to pursue into your calendar.

Period Tracker / Pill Tracker

If it's useful to you, record your menstrual cycle or symptoms on a separate page. A medication log can also hold a record of what you've taken according to your existing instructions.

Weekly & Monthly Budget

A budget page can list the costs you're responsible for, including housing, food, tuition, books, and transport. Note when they're due and compare them with the money available. Record spending in a way you can keep up with, and revisit the amounts when circumstances change.

Productivity Mandala

Here are my bullet journal page ideas for college students. I'll show you some good school schedule layouts, grade trackers, study log ideas and more!

A productivity mandala is a visual record of time spent on a project. Start with a small circle and add a ring of pattern for each session or day. Assign colors to time ranges and color the new ring accordingly. It can be a way to combine drawing with a project log if you enjoy both.

Conclusion

Choose the pages that answer a real need, such as finding a deadline or knowing what's left in the grocery budget. Start with those, and add more only when you want them.
