My Favorite Bullet Journal Supplies
Share
I've tried a range of supplies since starting my bullet journal. These are the ones I've owned and enjoyed using.
Use this list to compare the details that matter to you, such as line width, page flexibility, or how a pen feels in your hand. You may already have what you need.
Notebook

My favorite setup uses these small ring binders. I have them in A5, A6, and A7 sizes.
I like being able to rearrange the pages. Printables also save me setup time; the pages I use are in my shop.
Pens
I like trying new pens. Here are a few I've returned to:

These black gel pens have a fine tip that suits small handwriting and detailed doodles. Their construction also feels sturdy in my hand.

I was unsure about this erasable pen at first, but it became the one I kept reaching for. Being able to correct a note is useful in a planner.

These are my favorite pens for calligraphy. In my experience, the tips have held their shape through frequent practice, and the ink has lasted well.

I also like this white pen for writing over colored areas. Its ink covers much of the color underneath, though it isn't completely opaque.
Markers
For markers, I tend to choose these:

These dual-tip markers combine a fine point with a brush tip. I especially like the subtle pastel shades and how they layer for brush lettering.
Rulers

I use both sizes in this ruler set more often than I expected. The smaller ruler is handy for journal pages, and the larger one suits bigger layouts.
Skeleton Clips

These gold clips hold my journal open while I work. Mine are the large, 51 mm size.
Eraser

I've used several types of eraser, including the ones we bought for drawing in art school. These erasers are the ones I prefer for my journal and everyday pencil work.
Start with the supplies that suit the pages you make most often. A notebook and a pen are enough to begin; add other tools when you have a use for them.
